Q. What is the difference between an automotive and marine engine?

Besides external accessories, there are three main internal differences between an automotive and marine engine: camshaft, head gaskets, freeze plugs. 1.) Camshaft: There is a major performance difference between a marine and automotive camshaft. A marine engine camshaft produces much more torque than your typical automotive camshaft. The amount of torque that a marine engine requires is very similar to the amount of torque required to drive up a steep hill in an automotive application. The difference is that in a marine application this amount of torque is required 100% of the time whereas in an automotive application this type of torque requirement is needed very minimally. Your typically automotive camshaft is not made to hold up to the torque requirement of a marine engine. 2.) Head Gaskets: Marine engines require the use of stainless steel head gaskets. Standard autmotive head gaskets will not hold up in a salt water environment. 3.) Freeze Plugs: Marine engines require the use of brass or stainless steel freeze plugs. Standard automotive steel freeze plugs will corrode and not hold up in a salt water environment.

Q. What warranty is offered?

A. Up to 3 years/UNLIMITED HOURS of pleasure use for New and remanufactured marine long block and base engines . Commercial use applications: 3 MONTHS/250 HOURS.

Q. What is the difference between a used, rebuilt and remanufactured engine?

A. Used engines are pulled directly from a used sometimes damaged vehicle and nothing is done to ensure they will operate well.

To rebuild is to recondition by cleaning, inspecting and replacing severely worn parts. Quality of rebuilt parts varies greatly and most come with only a very short undescript warranty.

To remanufacture an engine is to make as close to new as possible. All components are checked against original equipment specifications and must meet exacting OEM standards and tolerances. Testing is performed to meet manufacturer specifications.
